Everyone loves to have an evening or an afternoon together with friends and/or family.  There are many people who cannot afford to go out for the evening to a restaurant or a bar.  These places are getting to pricey and who can have fun when they are worried about how much money they are spending.  Believe it or not there are ways to save money while trying to have everyone to your home to be entertained.  This article will share some ideas to help you entertain at your home while having a budget and sticking to it.

Where To Start First

When you are trying to decide how and what kind of a party to throw there are a few rules and tips that you should keep in mind.  The first rule is to share all of the duties that are involved.  You should not be shy when hosting a party to ask for help.  You can split the duties of hosting with a friend or a family member.  An example of splitting the duties is to have someone help you with the food and drinks.

Of course the food and drinks are only the beginning.  One of the most expensive portions of throwing a party or entertaining is purchasing the supplies.  Everyone will need serving dishes, punch bowls, or many other different types of items.  The best way to remain on your budget is to borrow some of these items.  You should ask your family and your friends if they have the items that you need.

Be Creative

When people think of a good fun party they automatically think that the party needs to be expensive.  However this is not the case.  Often times you will not even need to spend money on decorations and games.  The rest of this article will give you some ideas and tips on how to entertain while on a budget.

Themed Potluck Dinners

A popular money saving party is a potluck.  This is where everyone brings a dish to share with the other guest.  Everyone knows this tradition and it is always enjoyable.  However you could add a different kind of twist to this tradition by putting a theme with the dinner.  An example of this is to having everyone bring some sort of comfort food.  Other example would be an ethnic theme such as Mexican or even using an ingredient as the topic.

Hors d’oeuvres Party

Hors d’oeuvres are always a good idea if you do not want to have your guest bring anything with them.  It is important to inform your guests that only hors d’oeuvres are going to be served.  Rather than serving and preparing an entire meal this is a good place to settle on.

Movie Night

Everyone loves movies and popcorn.  This is a very inexpensive party idea that can be very enjoyable to all.  By renting a movie or two and making some homemade popcorn you can make this a special and fun evening with your friends for under the amount of twenty- five dollars.  This amount also includes the amount of food.  Your guests will probably not mind bringing their own beverages either.

Entertaining on a budget is not difficult if you know what to do and where to start.  There are many different ideas that can be accomplished on a very small budget.  You should not be afraid to ask for help or even have someone host the party with you.  Most people will not mind helping and your guests will certainly not mind bringing a side dish to contribute to the meal.
