I have yet to meet someone who loves to go to the grocery and spend money. If you are like me you dread that trip every week or every other week. It turns out to be a love-hate relationship that most of us try to avoid. The average family will spend about $300 a week on groceries however if you use coupons it is possible that you can spend less. However there are many people who do not have the time or the urge to coupon. The good news is that there are ways that you can still save money on groceries and not have the hassle of clipping coupons on a weekly basis. Read on into the article to learn more.

Rethink Dinner

In today’s world there are not many families who have a big sit down dinner like they did back in the 1950s. In fact with the schedule that many families hold it is almost impossible for a dinner of this sort to happen. Today’s family does not need the perfect cut of meat, two sides and a fresh loaf of bread on the table every night to survive. In fact your kids and probably the adults of the family would love simple meals such as BLTs, grilled cheese, omelets or even a salad during the weeknights and possibly a large meal over the weekend. By having less expensive meals during the week you will find that your grocery bill will be cut dramatically.

Buy The Generic Brands Instead Of Name Brands

There are many people in the world that end up wasting plenty of money at the grocery store because they swear by the name brand goods. However there has been research done and the name brands were compared to the generic or store brands of different products. It turns out that the store brands scored just as well as the name brands but for a fraction of the cost. Therefore if you are looking to save money and you do not want to deal with coupons the generics will save you money.

Change Your Grocery Store

When you ask around you will find that many people have their favorite when it comes to grocery stores. There are many reasons why they select the store as their favorite. It could be that the store is the friendliest or the most convenient. But whatever the reason is you might need to change the store of your choice to save money. People love to talk about their favorites so ask around and find out which store is saving people the most money. People may hate to change stores but it could be worth it to save money.

Make A Grocery List And Stick To It

A common mistake that people make when doing their grocery shopping is to go shopping without using coupon. If you are trying to save money on groceries it is important to make a detailed grocery list. You should sit down and plan out every meal for the next week and then be sure to write down what you will need to get to prepare that meal. Once you are at the store you should stick to the list and not go off of it. When you go off of the list that is when you will start purchasing things you do not need and spending extra money.

To save money at the grocery store you will need a budget and better habits. Once you have established these you will find that saving money is easy and you will not have to hassle with the time consuming chore of clipping coupons.
